Hi, my name is Teresa Feathers. I would like to take just a minute of your time to introduce myself to you and give you a background of my success as a Realtor, and my professional life before real estate.

As native of the Shenandoah Valley and graduate of Strasburg High School, I began my journey in an attorneys firm as a legal secretary for a year. I then changed directions and worked in an administrative secretarial position in the medical field for approximately 6 years. My next path in life took me to Maine where I lived for 3 years. While there, I volunteered at a local school in the library 3 days per week as well as substitute teaching when needed for approximately 6 months and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. I then went to work as a secretary for a local school district's superintendent of schools administrative office.

Upon returning to my native home of Virginia, I stepped into the position of administrative secretary at the Town of Woodstock. While working in this capacity for 3 years, I felt I needed a more challenging environment. I started working as a part time assistant to a local Realtor during the evenings and weekends. After over 2 years as an assistant, I was approached by a Broker of a company to pursue my real estate license.

And so it began, I am now a full-time Realtor in my 9th year. I specialize in the Northern Shenandoah Valley and am very knowledgeable of, but not limited to the Shenandoah, Frederick and Warren County areas as well as the City of Winchester.

In my first year as a Realtor, I received the Rookie of the Year Award, Outstanding Sales Award and Presidents Award. Additionally, I have received the Presidents Award each consecutive year thereafter.

I have also pursued several Real Estate designations. I am consistently striving for additional education in this ever changing career. I have earned the ABR designation, the GRI designation and the SFR designation. You may ask, what does this mean for you. 

Why use an Accredited Buyer's Representative, ABR? Well, in the simplest of terms, because the sellers agent represents the seller. The sellers agent has a contractual obligation to get the highest price and the best terms for the seller. If you are a buyer, you need someone to represent you, someone who will be committed to your best interests.

There are many real estate agents out there who would gladly call themselves your agent. But an Accredited Buyers Representative is a REALTOR, one who adheres to a code of ethics above and beyond what is required by the state, who has secured the extra education and understanding necessary to address the unique needs of a real estate buyer.

An ABR will help you determine what type of home meets your needs and desires, they will direct you to those who can pre-qualify you for a mortgage and then help you find the most home for what you can afford. An ABR will explain complex terms to you in everyday language, and will ask the seller important questions you might not even think of. An ABR will introduce you to the amenities of your new community and will most likely become your new friend. All this, and they never charge you a dime.

GRI, why do you need one?, What is a GRI? GRI stands for Graduate, REALTOR Institute.  This is one of the highest designations a REALTOR can achieve.  To do so, the agent must attend a specific, intensive series of a minimum of 90 hours of classroom instruction, covering a variety of subjects including: contract law, professional standards, sales and marketing, finance, and risk reduction.

The GRI designation sets the individuals who have attained it apart from other practitioners because it indicated to the public that the individual has obtained a professional educational foundation on which to base the services they provide and that they are a member of the National Association of REALTORS.

Whether you are buying or selling, the GRI designation lets you, the client know which agents are going to be the best equipped to offer you the most professional, the most up-to-date services and information necessary to meet your needs.  Why settle for less?

The SFR designation, Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification.
Realtors are trained on how to manage short-sales, foreclosures, and real-estate owned transactions, and provide resources to help Realtors stay current on national and state-specific information as the market for these distressed properties evolves.
